The new rate card, line by line

In June we announced that most prices would rise about 15% on July 1. The hardware market moved again since — harder this time — and the final rate card reflects that. This post is the whole thing, line by line: every price that changes on July 1, 2026, and everything that stays put.

First, what happened. When we wrote the June post, we based it on the price increases our suppliers had announced in the spring. In mid-June, a second and much steeper wave of hardware repricing landed across the industry — the compute class our platform runs on now costs several times what it did at the start of the year for new capacity. A 15% adjustment no longer covers what it costs to keep growing the platform, and quietly thinning out replicas or headroom to make the numbers work is exactly what we promised not to do.

So we’re doing the honest version instead: prices go up where the underlying hardware got more expensive, they stay where they were everywhere else, and we accept smaller margins than we used to plan for. Nothing in this update recovers past costs — it prices the platform we have to buy from here on.

When

  • Everything you ran through June 30 is billed at the old rates. Watasu bills per minute, so the cutover is clean.
  • New rates apply from July 1, 2026, 00:00 UTC.
  • Your prepaid balance keeps its full value — as always, no invoices, no surprises, you only spend what you’ve topped up.

App compute

Standard 1×€10/mo€15/mo
Standard 2×€20/mo€30/mo
Standard 4×€40/mo€60/mo
Standard 8×€80/mo€120/mo
Standard 16×€160/mo€240/mo

Sandboxes

Runtime rates double; the per-second model, the free Basic plan, and the €150/mo Pro plan don’t change.

vCPU runtime€0.000010 /vCPU·s€0.000020 /vCPU·s
Memory runtime€0.000002 /GiB·s€0.000004 /GiB·s

A 2 vCPU / 1 GiB sandbox now runs at about €0.16/hour (was €0.08). A 90-second job still costs less than half a cent.

PostgreSQL

Hobby and Standard tiers move; every Premium tier stays exactly where it was.

Hobby 0€3€5
Hobby 1€5€9
Standard 0€10€15
Standard 1€25€30
Standard 2€50€60

Premium 1–4€100–€600unchanged

Valkey

Everything up to 10 GB — the plans almost all of you are on — doesn’t change. Only the three largest, most memory-hungry sizes move:

PlanWasNow
Hobby 0 through Premium 9 (≤ 10 GB)€1–€150unchanged
Premium 10 (25 GB)€175€300
Premium 12 (50 GB)€300€600
Premium 14 (100 GB)€600€1,100

ClickHouse

Hobby tiers were priced below what their dedicated compute now costs, so they move the most in this update. Standard and Premium — the production tiers — stay unchanged.

PlanWasNow
Hobby 0€15€35
Hobby 1€30€70
Hobby 2€60€130
Standard 0–2€80–€260unchanged
Premium 0–2€600–€2,200unchanged

Redpanda

One line changes: Hobby 2 moves from €60 to €70. Everything else — Hobby 0, Hobby 1, and every Standard and Premium cluster — stays where it was.

Observability

Free tiers stay free — that was a promise, and it holds. The paid Hobby tiers and a few Standard/metrics tiers move:

Logs

Hobby 0 (25 GB / 7-day)€12€19
Hobby 1 (75 GB / 14-day)€25€39

Hobby 1€3€5
Hobby 2€7€12
Standard 0€59€69
Standard 1–2, all Premium€99–€9,999unchanged

Metrics

Metrics is the most storage-heavy thing we run, so its Standard ladder moves more than logs or traces:

PlanWasNow
Hobby 0freestill free
Hobby 1€3€5
Hobby 2€7€12
Standard 0€59€79
Standard 1€99€149

Premium 1€1,499€1,599
Premium 2–4€2,999–€9,999unchanged

Grafana stays free. One persistent workspace per app, same as always.

What doesn’t change at all

  • Object Storage — every plan, every tier, including geo-replicated Premium. Storage prices moved far less than compute, and the old prices still work.
  • Sandbox plans — Basic stays free, Pro stays €150/mo.
  • Free tiers — free traces, free metrics, free Grafana, free Basic sandboxes. Nothing moves behind a paywall.
  • The billing model — prepaid balance, per-minute app billing, per-second sandbox billing, bundled egress, no new fee types, minimum top-up still €5.
  • What’s included — multi-DC placement for 2+ replica apps stays free; replicas, backups, and capacity headroom stay exactly as specced. We raised prices so we wouldn’t have to touch any of this.

The same two promises, still in writing

We made two commitments in June and they carry over unchanged:

  1. This tracks the hardware market, nothing more. Where hardware got drastically more expensive (compute), prices moved hard. Where it barely moved (object storage), prices didn’t move at all. That’s the whole logic of this rate card.
  2. If hardware prices come back down in a lasting way, ours follow. In both directions, always.

If this update lands badly for your project or your budget — especially if you sized things around the June announcement — write to us at info@watasu.io and we’ll work something out. That inbox is read by the people who set these prices.

Thank you for building on Watasu.
